4.6.0-op24 open source drivers firmware request

What router are you using it on? Getting issues with beryl ax acquiring IP address for repeater functionality. Works without any issue on 4.6.3-op24

MT-6000 Flint 2

Now on 4.6.6-op24 "release1" from 2024-10-14 with "keep settings" enabled, everything working good so far :call_me_hand:

We fixed this issue on v4.6.6-op24.

Thanks works fine now.
I was having issue with captive portal which might have been due to first issue, waiting for my next trip to check it out.

Can you or someone else explain what the "certain performance and compatibility issues with the open-source drivers for the model" are?

I had to switch to the 4.6.6 OP24 version due to ExFat network storage issues (see Flint 2 ExFat network storage) and haven't noticed any issues with it so far. Curious. Thank you.

At that time, the open source WiFi driver was severely unstable.
But by now, OpenWrt version 24 WiFi driver has been relatively stable.

Which means we'll get an updated 4.6.9-op24 soon?

I have been using the op24 version in the past months and from my personal experience i can say is the best and more stable version. Some small issues regarding wifi speed who is like 100mbps slower but i can live with it.
On local network who is 2.5G i cannot hit a higher speed then 1.2G.

i am also curious when the new GUI will come also to op24

i can only talk for myself, i would think maybe.

just a few days ago openwrt transitioned the package manager from opkg to apk, so this will have some effects on the gl firmware.

on the other hand they can also use a version just before that change or just keep opkg selected, and study how well this change go in hands with stability and also builder stability.

on my own build environment for clean openwrt im also still generating ipk though i expected it to be default apk according to their github, so i have to tweak my settings to generate them, but on the experimental settings apk is still listed there maybe they expect me to do a clean git clone or config :stuck_out_tongue:

though for gl-inet they might need more work than just a few options, since also their ui system seem to be also parted in ipk packages so they may need to update manifests if they want to go APK route and think how it would work with other routers too (older versions), on openwrts package repo for the main branch all is now apk i don't know what things can happen in a combined ipk/apk repo as example, apk is also a bit more strict because it enforces package signing i don't know what the effects are if it sees a ipk and says failed if it still installs the apk

edit

compiled a image with a outdated version of luci-theme-argon

on the openwrt forums they told me that only the version in the package manifest could cause issues but under normal circumstances old packages just can be compiled
