Hi, I noticed that the GL-A1300 is still on version 4.5, but even the smaller SFT1200 is already on version 4.8.3... Are there any plans for the A1300?
Hi @Schabi , welcome to the community. I am also a user who has been waiting on GL iNet to reply to your question, as it also concerns me.
It appears that the A1300 has been orphaned by GL iNet. They have engineers available to work on firmware 4.10 for some models, but it appears they have decided to stop supporting this model while they continue to sell it and make money from it.
The A1300 firmware has multiple known security bugs, as it has not been updated in well over a year. The OpenWrt base of the A1300 is very old at 21.02.2, while many of the newer GL iNet routers are already shipping firmware based on OpenWrt 24.10 or 25.12.
Despite their marketing claims, GL iNet does not take security seriously for all models.
Hi,
Thank you for your question.
We checked with our team, and it looks like the A1300 may receive an update sometime in Q3/Q4 this year, although it will most likely still be based on the v4.5.x firmware.
In the longer term, we may release a new mainline firmware for the A1300 based on vanilla OpenWrt + the GL SDK, similar to the v4.8.x-op24 series. However, this is currently a lower-priority project, so it will likely take more time before our testing resources are available.
Oh, that's very sad. I recently bought the A1300 and would have a feature from 4.8/4.9. I guess I might have to look around for a newer device. ^^
