As it seems there isn’t currently a GLI option for 802.11AC, I am wondering what others are using instead? I do not need a travel router footprint, this will be for my home.
What is the most attractive (good performance, good price) OpenWRT AC solutions people are using?

Have been looking into this myself. Have not made a purchase yet, but research has pointed me in this direction:

It seems like good old Atheros is the way to go, based on QCA IPQ8064. Which apparently is at the heart of any of these bad boys:
TrendNet TEW-827TRU
Linksys EA8500
Netgear R7500 v2 (the v1 uses a different Quantenna QT3840BC chip)
ASRock G10
Amped Wireless ATHENA AC2600 (RTA2600)
Amped Wireless ATHENA-EX AC2600 (RE2600M)
TP-LINK Archer C2600
TP-LINK TGR1900 (Google OnHub)
ASUS SRT-AC1900 (ASUS OnHub)
Again I have not tried any of these personally yet, but they look like good options.
