Amazon fire stick not working with encryption

Just got my GL-MT300N and I love this little decvice. I am using tethering with my cellphone and everything is working great so for except one thing. I cannot get my firestick to connect to my network. I am using the default ssid and password. I have also tried changing the ssid and password and changing the encryption from wpa to wpa2 to mix. all my other devices connect just fine, a laptop phone kindle. However if I go to advanced settings and remove the encryption it will connect just fine. I of course want to use encryption. here is the log while the firestick tries to connect.

I checked on google. Seems this is a problem of wmm.

Can you set wwm to ‘0’ and try again?

You can do this in Luci.

You can also do it via ssh, add the following content to /etc/config/wireless

option ‘wmm’ ‘0’

I unchecked wmm mode in the advanced settings and I am still getting the same issue.
