AP1300 wwan0 Interface Stuck on Static IP/Unregistered SIM

My AP1300 is unable to connect to certain 4G networks and I think it is a firmware issue. It is using a quectel EP06-A module. I have tested the module and SIM by swapping it in an X750 modem and everything worked fine. When the X750 modem connects to 4G using the SIM (a Verizon data only plan), the interface protocol shows “unmanaged”. When I put the same EP06-A module and SIM card back in the AP1300, it is stuck saying the SIM card is not registered. When I look at the AP1300 wwan0 interface, it shows it is trying to use a “static IP” protocol. I think this is the issue. When I switch the protocol to “unmanaged”, the unregistered SIM notification goes away and it appears to briefly connect. The interface protocol then changes back to “static IP” and the modem again says “unregistered SIM”. The SIM I am using is not meant to use a static IP. Could this be a firmware issue forcing the static IP protocol?

Can it setup okay by auto setup? The luci may have bug when setting modem.

I don’t know much about this kind of stuff, but I think it might be a driver issue causing the modem to operate in an unsupported mode. Here is a patch I found that says it allows newer 4G modems that don’t support “802.3” mode to operate in “raw-ip” mode. [LEDE-DEV] uqmi: fix raw-ip mode for newer lte modems - Patchwork

I’m really needing to fix this problem ASAP. I have four customers that have ordered AP1300 modems this week to use with Verizon, but I can’t get them to work because of this bug. I don’t know how to implement the patch in the link I provided (I have very limited computer skills).

Is there anyone that could help and create a firmware that patches this? I am willing to pay someone if they can provide me with a firmware in the next 24 to 48 hours.

This is after I go to “manual setup”, enter “VZWINTERNET” as the APN, and then click apply. I can confirm that this SIM and EP06-A module work when placed in an X750 modem. The MODEM_1_1 interface is showing the protocol is “Static address”. When I use the 4G module and SIM in the X750 modem, the protocol is “unmanaged”.

It looks like you are having some problems with your band settings.
Try the following command:

I just tried it. I got an “OK” response, but the SIM is still saying it is not registered and the protocol is still stuck on “static address”. The “static address” protocol does not work with my SIM and carrier. I have tested this on an X750 modem. Could the qmi_wwan driver raw-IP support not be being triggered? Or does the EP06-A support 802.3 IP?

I can rule out the driver problem, because your device could not register the network, it is not a data flow problem.
After resetting the band, you can try to restart the device.

I just tried restarting. It is still not connecting. When I go to “Interfaces” and change the modem interface protocol from “static address” to “unmanaged”, it still shows “SIM card not registered”, but it seems to connect to the carrier network, just not to have internet access (I think because the APN defaults to the wrong APN). When I try to change the APN to the correct APN, the modem interface goes back to “static address” mode and disconnects.

The problem I’m having is with Verizon SIM cards (I’ve tried multiple SIMs). When I use an AT&T SIM, the AP1300 modem connects to the internet, but it is still stuck on “static address” mode. The plan I have with AT&T supports static IPs, but the plan I have with Verizon does not. When I use the AT&T SIM card in EP06-A module in an X750 modem, the interface protocol always switches to “unmanaged” and works fine.

It seems like something is preventing the interface from using any protocol except “static address”.
