AR750S Luci Backup & Restore

Have 2x AR750S, 1 currently used as main internet and 1 unit as a spare in case of main fail.

I backup the main unit monthly using the Luci backup feature and store that on various backup storage devices so can access to do a restore if or when necessary.

I did read somewhere that if you restore from a backup the MAC details in the unit your are restoring to are over written from the backup - can someone please elaborate if this is true or not and what effect this may have ??.

I would like to connect the backup unit to the network and restore the Luci data to it monthly as well so both the main and backup are identical.

Note - not additional software is installed just the standard 4.3.25 firmware.

Yes this does happen, restoring the same backup on 2 units will cause them to have same ip and mac.

If the main unit were to fail for some reason, I could just swap to the backup even though it has the same MAC address - neither the main or the backup would ever be connected at the same time.

Can you see any issue with that idea ??

No then it would work perfectly in your case.
