AXT-1800 Slate - cryptsetup not working after upgrade to 4.8.3

Last weekend I upgraded my Slate AXT-1800 to version 4.8.3 from 4.6.11. The upgrade worked. However I was unable to mount the existing encrypted drives (USB and SD Card) using cryptsetup.

I reinstalled the previous packages. However cryptsetup wouldn’t recongnise the USB nor SD card as being encrypted with LUKS v2.

I spent a few hours troubleshooting and according to Chat GPT the cryptsetup binary wasn’t linked to one of the required libraries. I haven’t been able to find anything to corroborate Chat GPT.

For the moment I’ve ubooted back to 4.6.11. Does anyone know if there is a fix or work around to fix cryptsetup on version 4.8.x?

We were able to reproduce the issue locally. It appears to be caused by dm-mod not being included in the current kernel configuration/modules.

We will ask the development team to investigate whether it can be added in a future release.
