AXT1800 repeater VERY slow

This is the first time I’m using my AXT1800 in the field. I’m at an RV site in Missouri, the Wi-Fi has download speeds measured by Ookla of about 40 Mbps. When I repeat that through my router, I get about 2 Mbps. Oddly the upload speed through the router is about 30 Mbps.
My firmware version is 4.8.3. Enabling Proton VPN shows no significant difference. I see this question has been asked many times over several years, but never gets an answer. Is this forum actually alive?

Hello,

When you repeat campground Wi-Fi, download speeds will typically drop off a cliff due to signal quality, interference, or router configuration, but uploads are less impacted. Given that your firmware is up-to-date, the issue is probably related to how the router deals with multiple connections, rather than the VPN itself. You may want to try different bands (2.4 vs 5 Ghz) or placement to see if the throughput improves.

Best regards,
Aimee
