Beryl AX - buggy Repeater or just lacking optimal settings?

I’ve been struggling to get my GL-MT3000 to maintain a solid WISP repeater connection here, tried 4.2.0 and various 4.2.1.

My internet is supplied only via WISP (a single SSID) which operates in many channels and bands (multi MACs/APs). I suspect some or all access points are momentarily down (e.g. system reboot on their side once or twice a week), but can’t be sure if it’s my device that crashes and looses all signals.

Regardless, my device looses Repeater connection intermittently and “gives up” trying to reconnect. Sometimes I see the Repeater mode gets turned off.

I would like to know if there are settings e.g. in the multi-wan that will force my device to keep trying to reconnect indefinately (e.g. maybe the source WISP is back up after 5-10m and this should bring my Beryl AX back online) and never timeout.

Do you use 5G or 2G repeater?

Yeah, I had confirmed a bug that it can connect to a 2.4G network, but switch to 5G fail under mac clone.

Please try this firmware with this bug fixed.

Thanks @JerryZhao . Tried it and some things improved, but the 5G still have issues: I was able to connect to the 5g Repeater better this time (even with Mac clone - randomized address - enabled), but depending on the MAC address the randomizer function assigned to the Ethernet, some of my devices would not be able to connect to my devices’s 5g (2g was always ok).

Could it be the ethernet mac address generation function is using an incompatible/incorrect format as described here:

If I keep trying to generate different MAC addresses, eventually I manage to get it to work fine.

ps1: thanks for fixing the issue that prevented changing MAC address while WAN port is acting as LAN.
ps2: AdGuard is missing in the UI of this firmware, although it was up and running as expected on port 3000.

ps3: GoodCloud had issues letting me control the device

This firmware is only for test. Please wait the next official release firmware.

I tried 4.2.2 release 3 and still experienced an issue, now with the default MAC Address (i.e. Mac Clone off).

  • I can get the repeater to connect to the 5G ISP, so that’s good.
  • with Mac Clone disabled and using the factory-default one, I cannot get my devices to connect to my Beryl AX via 5G !
  • If I do create a random MAC one, then router’s 5G work again.
