Beryl AX router connected but can’t access internet

I’m using the beryl as a travel router. When setting it up as a vpn client on the home ISP it connected to the internet fine.

Now I am connecting to it in another router and I can’t access the internet. I get the message that the router is connected but the internet can’t be accessed. This message I get through WiFi and Ethernet.

This is all new to me, first time I have done anything like this, so have some patience please.

Hello,

  1. Is Beryl AX repeater or ethernet connected to the primary router?
  2. This another router that Beryl AX is connected to (Internet abnormality), is the Internet of that router normal? Like, your phone/laptop is directly connected to that router, check if the Internet is normal.
  1. If it still problem, please export the syslog (Admin Panel > System > Log) and send it to me via PM.

Thank you will do!

Hey Bruce. It’s number 3 yet I don’t have a way but seems to PM you directly. I guess it’s cos I am a new user. Can you message me?

Sent a PM with you.

I see, this may be because the local network supervision is relatively strict and the standard WireGuard protocol cannot be used.

You can install the beta firmware for MT3000 to support AmneziaWG and use a profile that supports AmneziaWG.

Hey Bruce,

When I go to click on the download it gives me a 404. This is the URL: https://fw.gl-inet.com/firmware/mt3000/testing/mt3000-4.8.2_beta3-822-0924-1758716871.tar

Thanks for the feedback!
We have aware this, since a new firmware file is being replaced.

Please click this URL to download the MT3000 beta firmware.

Thank you!

Will let you know if it works

Also, when you say use a profile, what do you mean? Where do I go for this? Thank you!

Profile is a file exported/downloaded by VPN server or VPN service provider and uploaded to the VPN client.

If you need to use AmneziaWG, you need to visit their official website and subscribe to use it.

Ah, ok, so what I want to do is for my IP address to show as being on my home IP even when I am travelling. Will using AmneziaWG still give me that privacy? What I have been told is to use Wireguard - I am guessing AmneziaWG is part of Wireguard, actually.

Also, is it possible that my ISP router overseas is behind CGNAT and blocks the wireguard client?

Hello,

Oh I see, do you need Beryl AX able to connect to home server, and show your home IP address?

I think you can find a Raspberry Pi or NAS at home and build an own AmneziaWG sever, a server running the AmneziaWG protocol to have an obfuscation effect.

Here you go:

Yes, but the AmneziaWG has some additional confusion parameters compared than standard WireGuard, making it more robust and often better adapted in some networks.

Oh, if you have another MT3000 at home and set up as VPN server, you don't need to deploy an AmneziaWG server on the Raspberry Pi. Just upgrade that MT3000 to the beta firmware and enable obfuscation.
