When I try to connect to the public wifi network (WPA-personal) I get an “ERROR: Time-Out!”.

*connecting to the same network from a another device works perfectly

any idea?

can beryl connect to WPA-personal?
if not, which device should I get?

Make sure it is not WPA3.

connection works from other devices

I have the same issue in my home network. If the router’s wireless authentication method is set to WPA-Auto-Personal, Beryl will have “Error: Time-Out” message. Once the router’s authentication method is changed to WPA2, Beryl will connect.

I have to use the WPA authentication method for legacy reason. Please resolve this issue.
