Bitlocker - keyboard and mouse not working

After laptop restart I cannot type password to bitlocker, because keyboard and mouse not working.

I used to be able to do that when Virtual media OFF, Audio OFF and Mic OFF, but after some update, I cannot do it anymore.

Does it work if the kvm is restarted?

I have taken note of a hard to replicate issue where suddenly usb output from the kvm stops working, restarting the kvm solved it.

Also there might be some tweaks you can still try inside the bios:

  • disabling fastboot, fastboot can skip usb devices.
  • enable legacy usb (or worded familar), this will support enabling a bit older devices not always fully efi compatible.

It is possible that Windows also did something here, I myself use Veracrypt and had not a issue.

What product? Versions before 1.10.1r2 may fail to be recognized by the device in special cases because we added the IAD FLAG to USB for camera adaptation.

Could you try changing the Device Identity to another preset or try unplugging and reconnecting the USB-C cable, and check if the keyboard and mouse work on the BitLocker screen?

I restarted KVM, restarted my controlled laptop, turned Virtual media OFF, mouse OFF, Mic OFF (Audio left ON) and keyboard started working. I was able to type bitlocker password.

Unfortunately this issue makes KVM not enough reliable to leave controlled machine long distance from my location.
