Brume 3 DPI GoodCloud?

Hi! I’m considering buying the GL.iNet GL-MT5000 and I saw on the official YouTube channel that the DPI feature (Data Statistics / Content Filter / QoS) is license-based and, for permanent use, requires binding the device to GL.iNet’s GoodCloud / cloud service (the UI offers a 30-day trial, and then it says to bind to GoodCloud).

Could someone explain why this is a mandatory requirement for full DPI functionality?
Is the cloud binding needed mainly for license issuance/verification, for signature/category updates, or does any part of the DPI analysis/filtering actually happen in the cloud? Also, what happens if the router is intentionally kept offline or used without an account?

Hi,

Yes, GoodCloud is only used for license issuance/verification and for signature/category (signature database) updates.
All data is processed locally and is not uploaded to the cloud.

If the router is offline or logged out of GoodCloud, the current DPI features will continue to work normally.
However, the signature database used for DPI will no longer be updated.
