i’m trying to set up my VPN mode as Policy mode. I have run into what I think is a bug. I cannot change out of policy mode to global mode. i was playing around in policy mode, and nowi cannot switch back to global mode. i get a prompt to’delete my vpn tunnels’ in order to switch back. but i cannot delete them
everytime i try to change from policy mode to global mode, it tells me i have to delete the vpn tunnel. BUT THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO DO THAT. I have looked at the documentation, and on the VPN dashboard there is supposed to be a switch for me to turn them off. however, on my VPN dashboard, it shows there are no tunnels. i accidentally made 2 tunnels when i was trying to delete the first tunnel. the documentation shows i should be able to delete the tunnels from the vpn dash, but there is no way for me to do that. what can i do here to delete the tunnels
most importantly, underneath the ‘vpn dashboard’ header ont he vpn page, there is a sentence “VPN tunnels take priority, and multiple tunnels can apply the same client settings and rules. Modify Priority” i then click modify priority and this is what i see:
i have not seen this topic discussed in the forum. i do not see a way to delete the vpn tunnels. i do not see a way to configure the vpn tunnels even when policy mode is enabled
I recently migrated to version 4.8.1 of the firmware and by necessity began to familiarize myself with the new features and interface. I experienced challenges similar to what you encountered. I accidentally discovered the problem in using the GUI was browser related as Bruce has suggested. I use any number of browser flavors on Macs pending on the circumstance. Apple’s Safari browser ended up working for me. I am successfully using Safari Version 18.6 (20621.3.11.11.3) but noted previous versions of Safari do not work. Firefox worked as well. Did experience problems when using Mullvad Browser.
thanku @naive - for any1 reading in the future; this solved the issue. mullvad browser was initially used to access adminpanel. i switched to different brower and this was the fix. i now see policymode and all the tunnels i created when trying to delete the initial tunnels. gui appears to be displaying as it should in accordance w gli documentation.
i have not actually gone in and tried 2 make changes but assuming (since i see the adminpage gui displaying as normal now) that everything will workfine. if something does not i will report ba=k thank u
Though Mullvad does not seem to play nice with 4.8.x GUI and Policy Mode Tunnel Interface
I do use Mullvad and Firefox Browsers for making backups of the configuration files as it creates an archive in proper format. e.g. ‘backupFile.tar.gz’ For some reason Safari downloads config file as ‘backupFile.tar’ There may be a setting somewhere I am missing to change file download behavior but it was not ready apparent and there was an immediate solution - different browser.
