Just unpacked and powered on a new Beryl AX (GL-MT3000). I powered it up but could not access the admin page via the documented online wifi steps, all passwords were rejected, but could access that page when I connected to the router via an ethernet cable.
I connected the router to my existing home wifi, sort of as if I was using the router in a hotel room (something I want to do with this router). The default IP address was already in use on my network, so I updated the router IP address, disconnected the ethernet cable, and restarted the router.
I can see the Beryl on my existing wifi network among other clients, it is logged in, but I can't connect to the router Beryl admin page, either at the new IP I assigned it, or the IP my existing router assigned via DHCP. Neither IP responds to pings, either.
Please make sure that you have selected the correct SSID and entered the correct password when connecting your device to WiFi. The password is usually indicated on the sticker at the bottom of the router. (It is recommended to turn on DHCP mode for computers)
After changing the IP, connect the MT3000 to the home network as a client. The computer is also connected to the MT3000 via WiFi or wired as a client. Then try to use the computer to ping the IP address of the MT3000 to confirm whether it can be accessed.
Normally, when the computer is connected to MT3000, the static IP of the LAN port set for the MT3000 and the IP assigned to the MT3000 by the upper-level router can access the management page of the MT3000.
The SSID was not the issue, rather the router rejected any password I entered. The sticker refers to a "key" which I have learned is the default password, but that could be documented better. The router rejected that as well as "goodlife".
I eventually attempted to connect to the router with an ethernet cable, as finally saw the admin page. The router arrived with an IP address already in use in my wifi environment, so I changed that, and added wifi credentials for my current network.
After a restart, it appears that the Beryl is connected to my existing wifi, I can see it on its client list, and has been assigned an IP by that router's DHCP. I can't connect to the admin page of the Beryl over wifi, though, at either the IP I gave it, or the one the existing router gave it. Neither of those IPs respond to pings, either.
When doing these operations, are you connected to Beryl's WiFi or your home main WiFi?
You can enable MT3000's WAN port access rights. At least it should be able to access the IP address assigned to it by the upper router.
Thanks for your reply. The only connection method that worked for me was via cable, until I enabled the two settings you point out. A reboot later, I can finally connect via home wifi, and set up this router, for use on the road, eventually. Am in business now.
