Hello all,
I'm trying to get an GL.inet Opal router to communicate with a digital sound mixer, and thus, to be able to use an ipad to control the mixer.
Normally this would be pretty easy and straightforward using the DHCP server, but I'm having no success. A static IP adress doesn't seem to work either.
I do have another router here that connects quickly and the dhcp server provides an adress for the mixer, and the connection is established quickly.
As I understand the router should have the dhcp server turned on but I don't see a toggle anywhere on the admin panel in order to verify this.
I'm in router mode. I guess I'm missing something here.
Any suggestions on why it's not working?
Many thanks in advance
Hi,
-
Is the network connection between Opal and mixer a wiring LAN?
-
If it is a wiring connection, please try changing the network cable. If no luck, please
export the issue syslog after connected the LAN cable - will check whether the LAN port is up when it connected. -
As a workaround: Opal --- "another router" --- mixer. The "another router" set as the AP mode.
Hello,
You're on the right track trying to use the GL.iNet Opal (GL-SFT1200) router in router mode with DHCP enabled, especially for devices like digital mixers that expect automatic IP assignment. Here’s a step-by-step guide and things to check to help you troubleshoot why it’s not working
On GL.iNet routers, the DHCP server should be enabled by default in router mode. However, you can verify or enable it via:
GL.iNet Admin Panel (simple UI):
Open browser and go to 192.168.8.1
Login (default password is usually goodlife or the one you set)
Under "Internet" or "LAN" settings, check:
LAN IP Address (default: 192.168.8.1)
DHCP range should be shown like: 192.168.8.100 - 192.168.8.250
If the range is blank, the DHCP server might be off.
Advanced Admin (LUCI interface):
From GL.iNet UI, go to "More Settings" > "Advanced" (this opens LUCI)
Login again if needed.
Navigate to Network > Interfaces > LAN > DHCP Server tab
Ensure:
Official Website
"Ignore interface" is unchecked
Start and Limit values are set (e.g. Start: 100, Limit: 150
Best Regards

Hi and thanks for your answer.
The DHCP range shown is: 192.168.8.100 - 192.168.8.250
it's written on a grey background but it's there.
I did what you proposed, so in advanced settings/LAN/interfaces/DHCP server:
-The ignore this interface is unchecked.
-The start and limit values are there.
Hello Bruce, many thanks for your answer.
- Is the network connection between Opal and mixer a wiring LAN?
Yes
If it is a wiring connection, please try changing the network cable.
The cable is fine, It works with 2 other routers.
Here's the syslog.
logread.tar (139 KB)
Many thanks!
Hello,
Thanks for your help.
Checked your syslog, we find there is not log about the LAN port up or down.
Please export the syslog before plugging out and in the LAN port of mixer, and let me know the mixer MAC address.
Please try to verify that the mixer connected to another router (if you have), can the mixer obtain the IP?
