Can't find Firewall under Network

Installed my Flint2 router, had a bit of a struggle getting LAN5 to be the WAN port but got there in the end. Updated the firmware from 4.7.4 to 4.7.7 and all seems to be working. Time for a bit more configuration, eh, where's the Firewall gone? Shouldn't it be the first entry under Network in the admin screen? I can find a Firewall entry under Network in LuCi but shouldn't there be more than that?

It's broken up & cut down according to the most commonly used functionality in the GL GUI. If you're looking for full control you'll want to keep to LuCI.

  • LuCI -> Network -> Firewall (GL GUI -> System -> Advanced Settings).
  • Just be sure to pull a backup first (LuCI -> System -> Backup / Flash Firmware -> Backup).

I’m new here so be kind lol

I bought my flint2 a couple days ago.

Have you tried to see if any of the software packages needs upgrading? Go to Luci, System> Software. Update the package lists and then look iof anything installed is flagged as updates?
luci-app-firewall or firewall look relevant.

NEVAR!

That inadvisable. GL firmware releases are 'static builds'. Don't even think about mixing in upstream OWRT repo feeds unless you know your way around SSH & the CLI if not vi. Things are prone to break mixing pure OWRT system-related packages w/ GL's customization's.

Ah, thanks for that. I'll stop fretting and continue fumbling my way through.

Generally very impressed with the Flint2 after moving from Asus routers. The WiFi range is better and having AdGuardHome available is a bonus as I was about to install it on my NAS.
