I plan to run this router to run a security syystem on a remote shipping container. The gl.inet esims have been out of stock for sometime now:
If i use another aftermarket esim card with an esim service like esim.io I can provision the card on my phone and install it in the router. What I am wondering is will I be able to add data to the esim remotely via the esim.io web portal or android app? My shipping container is a 2 hour drive away…
Are there any specific esim cards I should use or avoid?
If you’ve already installed the esim.io profile onto the physical eSIM card, and you’re only performing actions like renewing the plan/ adding more data (rather than writing a new profile or switching profiles), then yes—no physical access is required.
Additionally, if the third-party physical eSIM card you purchased supports the eUICC, it can likely work with the router’s built-in eSIM management feature:
This would allow a certain level of remote eSIM management via GoodCloud.
However, if this is your only internet source, it may be somewhat risky.
