We still haven't pinpointed exactly what the issue is. Initially, we thought there might be a compatibility problem between the DHCP client on the device and the DHCP server on the router. However, we tested some routers mentioned by users, such as iKuai, and they didn't cause any issues in our environment.
I suspect it might be an issue with the switch directly connected to the KVM. However, I still don't understand why the switch would cause the DHCP client on the KVM to fail to renew its IP address. Moreover, most users mentioned that they use enterprise-grade switches, and we don't have similar producet for testing.
The dhcp issue recently introduced in 1.8.x firmware also effects wifi on my gl-rm10.
Wired Ethernet was dying every other day. It would come to life sometimes by replugging the ethernet cable, sometimes that took attempts. I replaced the cable and the fault remained.
The fault occured on my routers lan ports and also occurred on my Netgear switch.
So I disconnected the ethernet and connected to wifi instead. And the device still drops off the network every few days. On the touch screen sometimes I can reconnect to wifi from the menu, many times that fails with the KVM saying it failed to connect.
Power cycling the KVM gets it back on the network 100% of the time so far.
The router/dhcp is Asus rt-ax86u
Switch is netgear gs316
Prior to the 1.8.x firmware I never had this problem.
I attempted endless to try to connect to the wifi again, connect to different ssid, connect to the hotspot on my mobile, connect a wire cable to various switches.
Let's say I tried about 50 times over an hour to try to get the thing to connect again. But all attempts failed.
Wifi attempts lead to failed try again screen. From the ap I could see the rm10 briefly connect to the ap and second laters disconnect.
Wired attempts the switch port lights up and shows activity but the rm10 continues to say no network.
After a power cycle of the rm10 it immediately reconnected.
I have certainly previously been able to get it to reconnect but the last few times have been the same where it seems a power cycle is needed to recover the rm10 network stack. This might have changed in a firmware update such as 1.8.1 vs 1.8.2 or something.
I exported the log but it appears no logs survives the power cycle?
