Comet PoE (GL-RM1PE) refuses to work

I am just so f… tired of trying to make it work. It’s either black screen or no control over remote PC. I am trying everything and I will give up.

I made it work and was fine, but all of a sudden the functionality is gone and I just rebooted the remote PC of entered BIOS, nothing fancy that should break Comet PoE (GL-RM1PE) Remote KVM, no?

I have 3 more days remaining to get a full refund from amazon.de and I will send it back and buy a JetKVM or Sipeed NanoKVM Pro, I don’t care.

Please give me ideas so I can reproduce each time to fix the functionality or it’s gone back to amazon!

When a failure occurs, you can export the logs from the help menu and send them to us.

There is no failure, everything looks to be fine, the device is online, Stream is active, everything is fine, yet I see a black screen or in some cases I don’t have the mouse/keyboard working on a “dead” destop.

As we speak, I made it work again. How? Random reboots and factory resets of the device(hardware pin push), but this is a completely waste of time and I cannot run my PC and Comet device all the time, it costs electricity. I believe if I leave it like this the system will work, but not sure if I go to the PC and touch the BIOS settings of my mainboard….

Any ideas? I can send you the logs, where? Here? Any personal data in there?

If no permanent fix, I will return it in 3 days and try some other device like JetKVM or similar… too bad, it used to work fine, the Comet…

You can send it to my email address: luochongjun@gl-inet.com

If you want to use KVM to control a computer's BIOS, that computer must be a headless machine. Otherwise, you would need to connect monitor to the KVM's loop-out interface (RM10).

No, I can control the BIOS fine, when the device is working… It’s not only the BIOS in the end…

I have received your log

@minmie will analyze it.

thanks!

I can try Comet Pro (GL-RM10), is it better for my case?

I have already ordered Sipeed NanoKVM Pro, will test that one first…

According to the logs, the black screen issue is caused by network problems, specifically frame drops. Are you accessing the site on a local area network or via the internet?

which mode you using? Direct ? try webrtc(fec)

I use LAN only.

Mobo has:
1 x Intel® 2.5Gb Ethernet
1 x Realtek 5Gb Ethernet

Router is 2× 2.5G Ports: 1× 2.5 Gbps WAN port and 1× 2.5 Gbps LAN

Internet Speed
DL: 2100 Mbps
UL: 1000 Mbps

Tried Both Direct and WebRTC, now as I said it works, but when I got the black screen, didn’t work at all.

Can you take a screenshot of the black screen? The full one including the bitrate and frame rate bar at the bottom.

This looks like an issue with the HDCP key, but if there were a problem, it should have been persistent all along. Please run this command and give us the results.
lt6911c_upgrade -d /dev/i2c-1 -c

bash-5.2# lt6911c_upgrade -d /dev/i2c-1 -c

In that case, it can only be an issue with your controlled computer, because all evidence shows that the video output from your controlled computer is a black screen. Since it is outputting a black screen, the KVM can only display a black screen for you.

Generally speaking, this is an HDCP key issue, or at least your graphics card considers the HDCP key to be problematic. However, based on the command detection results, the HDCP KEY should be fine. You might consider looking for a way to disable the graphics card's forced HDCP key verification.

the typical symptom of an HDCP issue is that the picture appears for the first two seconds, and then the screen remains completely black afterwards.

But I have tried on 2 different PCs, I work in IT for 30 years, what do you think ? My PC is worth 10.000 $$, hmmm.

Anyway, I kinda like your products, so I am returning this one and I already ordered
GL.iNet GL-RM10 Comet Pro Remote KVM, wish me luck
