Comet RM10 loses HDMI after reboot with Macbook (lid closed)

Hi

I have observed that if the KVM reboots (crash/upgrade) or if my Macbook reboots, the HDMI signal is lost. I have the lid closed when the KVM is connected. I have to unplug and replug the HDMI cable and sometimes open the lid for the HDMI handshake to happen again. Is there some way to force an HDMI handshake?

Thanks

Instead of reconnecting the cable have you tried to re-login or restart the kvm? Another option is to trigger the wake on lan

i have tried the restart but that didnt seem to trigger it but i will try it again. the macbook is on; it just loses the hdmi sync

you probably have done this, but on the battery management settings of the mac set:

  • “low power mode” to only battery or never
  • enable prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off
  • wake for network access → only on power adapter or always

and keep the mac always connected to the power adapter

It’s likely a ‘trust accessory’ problem. I had the same problem (but only from time to time) until I went in and ‘always trust’ existing accessories. I realize that there are real world attack vectors tied to this setting - so I would never to this with a mobile PC that I travel with.
