My Brume2 also stopped working within the last 8 days. I haven’t connected to it since 04/19/26 until today, so not sure when it stopped. I have tried upgrading the U-Boot loader, and it states “The U-Boot has been loaded, please click UPDATE”, but keep getting the same ‘Update Failed” error message. Am I supposed to use the above [cs@gl-inet.com](mailto:cs@gl-inet.com) for further processing as well? Or the support@gl-inet email at the start of this thread?

**Important notice: This is not an official GL.iNet solution or recommendation. I’m only sharing how I managed to revive my own GL-MT2500A after it bricked itself with the same symptoms described in this thread. Please follow GL.iNet’s official recovery procedure and/or contact support first.**

My Brume 2 still opened the U-Boot recovery page, but both the correct official U-Boot and firmware failed with the generic “wrong file” message. UART exposed the actual problem: the old September 2022 U-Boot could not initialize the eMMC. Using a 3.3 V USB-TTL adapter, I was eventually able to test the newer bootloader from RAM and repair the device.

I documented the complete process, diagnostics, wiring, files, hashes, commands, logs, and safety warnings here:

> **[Debricking a GL-MT2500A Brume 2 with UART − Irakli's blog](https://iraklijani.com/blog/debricking-a-gl-mt2500a-brume-2-with-uart/)**

> A UART recovery log for a GL.iNet Brume 2 Alloy whose old U-Boot rejected every update as “wrong file” after failing to initialize eMMC.

If anyone has an otherwise unusable Brume 2, is comfortable working with UART, and has a spare 3.3 V USB-TTL adapter, the write-up may be useful. It describes only what worked on my specific GL-MT2500A; it is not a guaranteed or universal fix.

Opening the router and writing its bootloader can cause electrical damage or permanently brick it. Everything is provided as-is and without warranty. If you try it, you do so entirely at your own risk—I cannot accept responsibility for any damage, data loss, permanent bricking, or warranty issues.
