Hello,

Sorry about this. Seems it is met the hardware issue.

Please email contact our support team [email protected].

No matter if there is not order number, which means just describe it's an early beta model on the email, we just would like to check what's wrong with the bricking.

I wrote an email to your support 16 hours ago, and am still waiting for a reply. In this situation support should be sitting by their email inbox, I see no urgency or appreciation on the critical role routers perform, 24/7.
Can you ask support to check their emails please. Or do you expect us to buy new routers?
I find it amazing that following an official request with instructions, a perfectly working router can die.
20 years I've been flashing routers and phones and never had this happen before.

Is uboot upgrade necessary?. My unit(gl-mt2500) is out of warranty. I'm afraid to upgrade because of some users experience of failed to update.

FYI, I bought GL-MT2500A in the UK in Sept/2023 and it's running fine. I always updated it without any issue.
It's currenctly running firmware 4.7.4 (18/Feb/2024)

Thanks @Renato. I have the MT2500A as well that I purchased in March 2023. But I’m running 4.6.8 since I saw other threads about 4.7.0 bricking Brume’s. And now this critical thread.

@bruce or @rain Could you please advise, is this critical notification just for the older MT2500 Brume and not the newer MT2500A Brume 2’s? If it’s not for the MT2500A, then you might want to put that in the first post perhaps.

Hi folks, I also ran into this problem with my X3000 that I bought in 2023. I had given up since I tried everything, but gave it another shot after seeing this post. Upgrading the bootloader first and then installing version 4.7.4 through U-Boot solved my issue for now

For MT2500 and MT2500A. The hardware are the same.

question, why do we have to update firmware this hick hack way? how come the firmware is just not available to download via glinet router portal (like we get our usual updates)?

The firmware has already been released. You can just upgrade via your router’s admin panel.

The only thing you need to do is to upgrade the uboot manually.

updated uboot on XE6000 but still dont get the upgrade button on admin panel.

still shows V4? but firmware type 0704? so i already have 4.7.4?

did a manual upgrade with the 4.7.4 file.

And i still see same firmware details here.

how was I already on 4.7.4 before today?

All that I see so far in this thread from MT2500 owners is that their Brume 2 routers died when they performed this U-BOOT firmware update, and no one is saying anything about why that’s happening.

So, is there anyone with a MT2500 Brume 2 router that performed this U-BOOT update and did not brick their router? If so, when was your purchase month/year?

That version had already been made available. The update here was the uboot and then moving to the previously released 4.7.4 firmware to ensure remediation of the issue.

Instead, there's someone just blindly repeating the words to update immediately, even though no one asked when or why to update.

Glad I couldn't update yet.

I had planned to update soon, but currently I can't consider it's safe to update.

so you saying this post was for people who had issues with newer firmware, for them to download uboot and downgrade to 4.7.4?

This firmware is just the latest firmware in our official website, here in this first post we just create a hyperlink for it.

For X3000/XE3000, the firmware v4.7.4 (shows as 4.0 type0704) and newer released in the future shall have fixed this issue.

I think you may have upgrade to this version before, then now you just need to upgrade the U-Boot bootloader at your convenience.

yea i upgraded via router admin page before.

What benefit does a upgraded uboot do me now?

It shall fix this issue and and remove the risk.

The upgraded uboot mainly take affect when you startup the device.
If you don't restart the device much, the risk is low.

Actually we recommend the upgrade.

I'm confused...

I have the GL-MT2500A running 4.7.4 firmware.
Should I upgrade the uboot or not?
