DDNS Updates failing on Mango

I enabled DDNS on my Mango (v3.102) but it is not taking.

When I look in the system log file, I find lots of entries saying “IP update not accepted by DDNS Provider”.

The address returned via DNS look is the address of a location where I used to have the router. Not where I am a trying to use it. Old address ended in .240. My current address ends in .150.

Using the LUCI ddns configurator, I tried enabling secure update (IGNORING certificates), but no difference.

This was once working with an earlier version of software at a different location, but when I moved and updated the Mango, it no longer works.

DDNS name is uhae0a8.glddns.com.

For yucks, I pulled the template string from /etc/ddns/services and found

http://[USERNAME]:[PASSWORD]@ddns.glddns.com/nic/update?hostname=[PARAMENC]&myip=[IP]

for glddns. Substituting the username, password, hostname and IP address into this URL, I got a 502 Bad Gateway error in Chrome. Same error when run from curl.

I just checked two other Mango units at the same location, and they’ve been showing the same error since shortly after midnight on May 25, 2020.

Server side problem?

I don’t have access to the router which is connected and powered up. I won’t get access to the router for another day or two to see if the router updates are successful or not.

Nslookup was still returning the old address.

However, I used a browser to issue the update command to http://ddns.glddns.com/nic/update and got an “ok” response. The address is now correct.

Was the service down during the interval when I had problems? If so and this happens again, what is the best way to report it?
