Drop-in gateway + google nest mesh wifi

I have a brume2 and thought i’d use the drop-in gateway feature but i can’t seem to turn off the DHCP on the Nest router and for the life of me i can’t figure out where i need to modify the “gateway” setting on my Nest router to the IP of the Brume2.

Is there anybody here rolling with Google Nest Wifi and using drop-in gateway?

I found this More Fun with Brume 2 and Nest Wifi Pro and, um, it doesn’t look promising but thought maybe there might be a workaround at this point.

Thanks.

Hi

If the primary router (Google Nest) does not allow configuring the DHCP gateway, the Brume 2 Drop-in Gateway mode may not operate well.
In this case, you may consider using Brume 2 as the primary router and placing Google Nest behind it as a secondary router.

Alternatively, if only certain devices need to use the Drop-in Gateway via Brume 2, you can manually configure the gateway and DNS addresses for those specific devices.
For detailed steps, please refer to: Set up drop-in gateway - GL.iNet Router Docs 4

Thanks for the reply. yes, i could do that. The Brume2 would see/manage only one client device - the Nest Router. I kinda liked the idea of using the Brume2 to monitor the client devices given the Nest Wifi app doesn’t come close to what Luci/openwrt give in this regard.

yeah, i found this link as well from 2023: Re: Disable DHCP on Nest router to use alternate r... - Google Nest Community which a user has a Brume2 (MT2500) and asks the same thing to the Google forum. Looks like a hard stop.

I guess i’ll do as you suggest until i get a different (mesh) Wifi system.

Thanks again.
