Encrypted Lan

Hello this is my first post.

I would like to setup two MT300N routers to encrypt data over a cat6 ethernet cable, so that I can extend my LAN.
This cable runs externally on my property and has limited physical protection.
I have looked at AES128, 256 and wireguard to do this, but I need to setup a server and client I beleive. Since this will be on a LAN and not over the Internet Im not sure on how to configure the routers? Any help would be appreciated.

Should be able to do this with Wireguard - set on up as a server, and the other as a client to connect to it.
