It works! ![]()
Yay! Many were waiting to hear that, I suspect.
How is airplane mode implemented? Does the modem send IMEI numbers to the network during startup, or do the modems stay off throughout the entire reboot? I assume airplane mode does the same thing as AT+CFUN=4?
edit: Also if I have airplane mode off and SIM1 active, will the IMEI for SIM2 and eSIM leak to the network and vice versa?
Hello,
I’m happy to report that Mudi 7 is working with a USB-c to dual RJ-45 such as this one:
Two interfaces (eth1, eth2) are showing up and you can then assign them to the lan-bridge or a different network.
That’s great news, thank you for testing!
Which USB port did you use? The bottom one with PD or the side one without PD?
The side one.
I would guess that nearly all USB-C adapters for Ethernet should work. But glad to see one more confirmed! ![]()
While being part of the beta, I tried some docks (like for Steam Deck), and they worked as well! Just daisy chaining them (like 1 hub + 2 ethernet ports) does not work.
FWIW, if you need 4 ports on the LAN side I have one of these and it works: Amazon.com: Cable Matters USB C to 4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch for Network Sharing on the Move, Thunderbolt Ethernet Splitter, USB C Gigabit Switch, Compatible with Thunderbolt 5/4 : Electronics
After thinking about it a little bit, if this could be just a “Rx/Tx Mbit/s” area on the screen (or better yet, on a seperate, selectable menu to keep CPU load down when it’s not in use), driven off br-lan, some raw numbers that just updates every half second or so, I could see this being useful

would the reason to use this be for, say, connecting two computers wired vs using the wirelss side of this router? if not, what would be a practial use of this gadget? ![]()
Yeah. Multiple devices via wired Ethernet (which is the superior connection to WiFi).
I’m really impressed with the versatility of the on-screen UI … I plugged in a USB-to-Ethernet dongle into the Mudi and was surprised to see a “LAN/WAN” selection section just for the USB Ethernet. I’m really amazed what I can do with just the touchscreen ![]()
Curious.. question to the mods/anyone who has the answer.. what does “Mudi 7” mean? is it an acronym or does it mean something specific?
Can’t help ya with the “Mudi” part (nor “Spitz”, “Beryl”, “Brume”, etc.
) but I’m assuming as there was no “Mudis 1-6” the “7” implies the WiFi revision
Their Cellular products named after dog breeds, google is your friend. 7 just means wifi-7

That’s a good one
for info, measured at AC
Mudi 7 average 1 Watt
Spitz X3000 average 5 Watt

@will.qiu Could it be that the ZTE U60 is using PCell + PSCell and this is wrongly shown as PCC? Honestly after doing some more research I doubt that there is something existing like Dual PCC.
But then my question is: Can Mudi 7 or better can the Quectel RG650V do PCell + PSCell? Or is this a matter of the MBN file to determine?
Comparison Table
| Cell type | Control Signaling | Data Plane | Use case | Working environment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PCell | Primary | Yes | Initial Connection | Anchors signaling and communication. |
| SCell | Secondary (none) | Yes | Carrier Aggregation | Enhances bandwidth and throughput. |
| PSCell | Primary (Secondary Node) | Yes | Dual Connectivity (DC) | Anchors signaling in secondary node. |
| SpCell | Primary for group | Yes | Multi-Cell Coordination | Manages group of serving cells. |
PSCell: Primary Secondary Cell
Definition:
- The PSCell is the anchor cell in a dual connectivity (DC) setup when a UE connects to two base stations simultaneously (e.g., LTE and NR or NR-NR).
Key Functions:
-
Anchors the control and data signaling in the secondary node.
-
Enables the network to distribute load between master (PCell) and secondary nodes.
Working:
- The PSCell works alongside the PCell to ensure seamless handover or split bearer communication particularly in 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) architectures.

I believe it- while I haven’t run it more than a couple of hours off battery, I’ve never seen the battery lower than 100% and it’s not warm at all.
