Features Request, Temperature and Printer support

I LOVE my GL-Inet routers (have the byrel AX, Slate 7, Flint 2 and 3). There are, however, a few areas that would be AWESOME that could be baked in: 1) Temp readout for ALL gl-inet routers. I don't want to screw around with all this extra stuff just to see what Temp. I'm running at. The Flint 2 and 3 surely support this in hardware. Also, my Asus router allows me to share my older usb cannon printer. PLEASE add this feature to all the routers. Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

Please allow us to clarify that the router model without a fan is not displayed for the time being. The temperature is just a reference value. The new router chips are relatively hot because their performance is strong enough and can withstand heat. There is no need to worry about 70℃ in daily life. (My routers always in 65-75 ℃)

Regarding the printers supporting, you can install plug-in cups (or others) to support.

I will collect these requirements for the PM team to evaluate.

Thank you for your response. I still would like a temp reading without having to mess around with anything. Same with printer support. There is conflicting info on the net on how / what exactly is required. Until smb support is provided in the gui, can you provide a step by step guide. I tried cups and another package, but must of screwed it up. Having an offical walkthrough (until this support is just provided in the GUI )? Thank you so much!

Samba/SMB is already in the GL GUI.

There's hundreds of printers/multi-function devices that work with CUPs. There's no reasonable way every one of them can be supported OOTB on a router.

Spin up a VM with a Linux like Ubuntu. Use 'USB passthrough'. Learn CUPs configuration & setup via the CLI. Then adapt those steps to your routers that you're looking to augment with printer server duties... or just buy a dedicated network print server device.
