Flashing GL-MT300A with OpenWRT Fails Every Time

Hi all,

First off - quick question, what does the switch on the side do? I cannot find an answer anywhere!

Next, I’m trying to flash my MT300A with the OpenWRT ROM mentioned on this page:

https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/gl-inet/gl-mt300a#installation

Specifically this one: https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ramips/mt7620/openwrt-ramips-mt7620-gl-mt300a-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Every time I do it, the router ends up in the following state:

It is routing Internet traffic from the WAN port to LAN port perfectly
Its not broadcasting any wireless signal
I can ping it LAN IP address of 192.168.1.1 but I cannot telnet on to it
Browsing to 192.168.1.1 doesn’t work either

So DHCP is working and so is NAT but very little else.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have reverted back to the stock BIN three times and tried re-flashing the OpenWRT bin but not luck.

Thanks

Bob

OpenWrt trunk images do not include Luci so there is no web browser

OpenWrt images have wireless disabled by default, so that is expected.

I expect you should be able to telnet. Did you try ssh?

Once your in you may need to read this page

https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/techref/opkg

https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/firstlogin

There is a GLi “Clean” (No gli gui) which I believe has Luci (no positive) and there are also LEDE trunk images now.

None of the OpenWrt or LEDE images have much testing that I know of

yes. Openwrt firmware comes with nothing.

You can do as @RangerZ said.
