New Flint 2, firmware 4.7.0 using fiber ONT PPPoE connection.
ISP DNS will always show under Internet.
When I set DNS manually to Cloudflare my clients say DNS is 192.168.8.1, so the router is resolving DNS I guess?
If I add 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 into LAN / DHCP my clients show Cloudflare not the router. I don't understand this.
dnsleaktest shows Cloudflare either way, just 2 servers without added DHCP (optional) setting, only 1 server with.
Also enabled: Override DNS settings of all clients - not sure what it's overriding.
Better to just select Encrypted DNS over TLS and let the router handle everything?

Hello,
According to your settings, DNS does indeed use 1.1.1.1 resolution
the client sends the DNS request to the router, and the router forwards the DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) for resolution, not the router as DNS resolution.
Manually change the client DNS to 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1, the DNS must go to Cloudflare.
The router will redirect all 53 Port DNS traffic to the configured DNS of GL router.
What kind of DNS do you need to configure?

so all clients will need manual DNS setting unless I enter DNS into DHCP settings (optional)?
I don't think the google streamer has a place to enter DNS.
maybe I want Adguard DNS or NextDNS on streaming device, not sure how all that works, will look at it.
just confused on 192.168.8.1 showing as DNS.
Thank you. Nice router.

You would need to tell the clients using DHCP to use the DNS server of your choice.
There is a dnsmask setting in advanced setting where you can set "option 6" to tell clients what server to use
I'm not at my computer right now but if you search these forums for option 6 you should find it

Looks like advanced is Luci, need to research that a bit, not sure if I will loose my current settings.
works well using NextDNS with the router as the middleman. Just seems odd to see the router as DNS.
