Flint 2 / MT6000

Hi,

I was trying to set this up using PPOE on Digi UK. I have checked the password and username and they are correct and the Zyxel Ax7501 is in bridge mode. The router will not connect to the internet. I also tried enabling IPv6 and selected Native mode but still no joy. Router is on FW 4.8.4.

Any suggestions? seen online people had issues on older FW.

Have you tried applying vlan 101 and cloning Mac?

I tried the Vlan but still no joy, didnt try MAC clone, with zyxel in bridge mode shouldn't need that?

True, you shouldn’t need either in bridge mode TBH, but since it’s not working you can try out.

There no ONT, Zyxel is both router and ont.

You have created a bridge profile on zyxel and deleted the pppoe profile right?

Have you gone through all the settings? Which port is the bridge interface attached to?

Hi,

Could you try powering off both your Zyxel Ax7501 and Flint 2 for 1–2 minutes, then turn them back on and see if that helps?

If it still doesn't connect, could you please do the following three steps:

  • Double‑check your PPPoE username and password
  • Set the correct VLAN ID if Digi UK requires it
  • Clone the MAC address of your previous router

After that, check if the router gets internet. If not, please export the full system log and send it to me via private message.

I will do as zyxel is no longer in bridge port and they are sending some one out. If not resolved will try again with bridge port.

I did try with VLAN but no joy, did reboot both devices and checked username and password with ISP tech support

The router was put into bridge mode by the ISP, and I connected the Flint 2 to both the Lan 1 and Lan 10GB of the router, the latter only after trouble shooting with the ISP tech support. The Flint was connected to the WAN port.

Tech support could see the connection but router could not connect.

Hmm, if your Zyxel is set to bridge mode, I think it will just function as a DMZ no?, to me I have seen a few isp routers do it that way, it then also reserve a static ip to disable bridge mode again, with tracert in windows you can find this hop and confirm if that is true.

PPPoE would only be necessary if the Zyxel router was removed and replaced by the Flint 2 for direct authentication with isp.

do you get a ip if you set the Flint 2 to dhcp without vlan?

If not maybe it is a true bridge (which is kinda unusual to me).

Thank you everyone for your help and advice. My ISP is Digi and they sent out three people today and managed to resolve the issue, they connected via laptop to the Zyxel, Flint2 and made some changes and now PPOE is working with the Flint 2. I had a look and cant see other than the PPOE settings, which are the same as those used previously what else they changed but definitely changed stuff on the Zyxel and all sorted now.
