Thanks. That is a consideration. I do not often reset my routers. It is not hard to configure again it is just the clients might need restarting to get the new IP again(?). Food for thought though.

I now have a better understanding of the Flint 3 and ADG. (and how to unblock Apps in the content filtering - MSFS 2024 was a tricky one to find)

I have now expanded the number of devices on my test network - I have added my streaming devices and TV and Sonos and now blocking 66% of the useless DNS - this is more like it.

(Samsung is always phoning home - I have them blocked - cdn.samsungcloudsolution.com
13,398 requests blocked over the last 24 hours (67.08%) and that is after I have Samsung blocked in the content filtering)

Which blocking is processed first used - is it content filtering and then the leftovers go through ADG, or is it the other way around - ADG and the leftovers go through the content filtering or is it some other process?

Although I do find that ADG is still unstable and will stop resolving DNS from time to time - a reboot fixes this. I have also scheduled a daily router reboot to try and mitigate problems.

Did I say I can't wait for the release of the Flint 4?

On a side note, how well would you expect the Fint 3 to work / be compatible as an access point with the Flint 4 as the Master?

Recommended to prioritize Content Filter before ADG.
They aren't mutually exclusive, so this is simply a matter of your own configuration preferences.

Maybe ADG still has too many DNS filtering rules.
If ADG is not turned on, what is the memory usage? If ADG is turned on, how much is it?

To be precise, I haven't tested the Mesh for the Flint 4 and Flint 3. I will share my impressions as soon as I've had a chance to test them.
I tried out the Flint3 and Slate7 first, and I think they're not bad, but right now in alpha version (cannot share to you), some issues at the experience level need to improve, R&D guys are working hard for this.

ADG update - I have reduced the number of blocked sites and ADG has now settled down and now is reliable although I would still like to have many more block lists. I understand this will improve on the Flint 4.

By way of comparison, ADG running on my RasPi 5 on my other (main) network was blocking 90% of useless DNS / ads at one stage yesterday and we were still able to use the internet. The RasPi ADG or more likely the internet, has now settled down to the normal 70+% blocking and 31ms response time.

Flint ADG is at 65% blocked and 14ms response time - pretty good really. :smiley:

I noticed a weird behaviour on my Flint 3 with 2.4ghz band. If i change it to 20/40mhz the cpu usage will go to around 10% and the devices that want to use the 2.4 band will have trouble connecting to it. Changing it back to the default 40mhz fixes the cpu usage, which now hovers aroung 1.5% and the devices connected to the 2.4ghz band have zero issues. This kinda looks like a bug,

It is possible that some of the 2.4GHz WiFi traffic on the Flint 3 is not being offloaded to hardware acceleration, causing the CPU needs to process this data and resulting in slightly higher CPU usage.

But the trouble in connecting to the 2.4GHz WiFi is weird. Please help to try reproducing this issue and send us the logs in GL GUI -> System -> Log.

I have 20/40mhz enabled. CPU usage hovers around 10-12.

having similiar issues after the upgrade. My wifi seems to be running out of resources and disconnects constantly and my wan connection drops intermittely. Seems like the router runs out of resources and then restarts the services. I seem to have alot of errors in the logs related to scripts not running and the country selection is set to Germany or something.

We checked the logs and noticed that the client device appears to be repeatedly switching its authentication between MLO and the regular 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz / 6 GHz Wi-Fi networks. This may introduce additional authentication overhead, which could increase CPU usage.

Could you please help confirm the following?

  1. Are the MLO network and the regular 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz / 6 GHz Wi-Fi networks currently using the same SSID?
  2. If so, does changing the MLO SSID to a different one help resolve the issue?
  3. If the problem still persists, please export the complete router logs and send them to us via private message so that we can investigate further.

Hi, thanks for checking for me. The SSID’s were difference for MLO vs the other 3 bands. I noticed alot of scripting errors aswell, so ended up doing a factory reset which resolved the issue. I suspect it was an upgrade issue ( I had made some vlan changes in Luci previously, which I think conflicted with the IoT gateway update).
