Morning people,

Currently got my Flint4 and Flint3 in a wired back haul mesh set up, wondering if I can lock a certain device to a specific node? My daughters PS5 keeps jumping wifi to the flint4 downstairs despite having less signal than the flint3 upstairs, and while it works it's ping increases loads and makes her online gaming laggy, if I disconnect the ps5 then reconnect, it joins the upstairs node and works fine again for a while hours/maybe a couple of days before it happens again.

I've browsed the menus but can't find anything that seems to fit the bill.

If not I assume I could remove the mesh then go back to AP mode and create a specific wifi ssid on the upstairs node just got the PlayStation so it had no roaming option..

Regards

Tom

I have no experience with easy mesh which is build in, but from what I have readed it seem to me it is more looking to just fast roaming or 802.11S which is a moderner variant.

Not a 'real' mesh gimmick where also L2 is involved like in OpenWrt packages dawn and BATMAN so there is no measurement to make a decision on the routers side, the client makes the decision.

In case I got this information wrong, then I suspect the playstation doesn't talk fast roaming properly.

One thing you can do to make it more stable:

Make sure per node there is atleast above -50dbm, then the weighting by the client is manipulated to see it automatically as a weaker signal, the -50 is important because it will not trigger at -20dbm instead it will result in the situation you experience the random hopping.

You can use the tx power for this, another way which will work 100% is having a alternative AP for just the PS5.

I use a android app named wifiman to lookup the transition + dbm of the multiple AP.
