Flint 4 + PS5 Pro Wi-Fi connection issues – anyone else experiencing this?

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone else with a Flint 4 and PS5 Pro has experienced similar problems.

I’m having a really frustrating issue where the PS5 Pro constantly struggles to maintain a stable Wi-Fi connection when gaming. I’m getting timeouts and connection drops, to the point where the router is basically unusable for me with the PS5.

I’ve tried quite a lot of troubleshooting already:

• Disabled MLO

• Tried 5 GHz and 6 GHz separately

• Dropped the 320 MHz bandwidth down to 160 MHz

• Also tried 80 MHz

• Set up port forwarding

• Given the PS5 a static IP

• Installed Universal UPnP through LuCI

• Tried the original firmware

• Tried the second firmware release

• Tried the beta firmware

• Tried different NAT configurations, including Full Core NAT

Nothing seems to make any real difference.

if I switch back to my old Wi-Fi 6 router, the PS5 Pro works absolutely fine in exactly the same location and setup. No timeouts, no instability and no problems playing online.

So I’m wondering whether this is a known Flint 4/PS5 Pro compatibility issue, or whether there’s a particular Wi-Fi setting I’m missing.

Has anyone else experienced this with a PS5 Pro? If you have one working reliably with the Flint 4, I’d really appreciate knowing what firmware and Wi-Fi settings you’re using.

At this point I’ve tried so many combinations that I’m running out of things to test!

First isolate whether this is a Wi‑Fi interoperability issue or a WAN/NAT issue:

  1. Create a dedicated 5 GHz SSID for the PS5 Pro with MLO disabled, 80 MHz, a fixed non-DFS channel such as 36/40/44/48, and WPA2-PSK only. Temporarily use normal DHCP and remove the port-forwarding/custom UPnP changes, since those do not address wireless disconnections and may complicate the NAT test.
  2. Disable Network Acceleration, reboot the router, forget the network on the PS5, and reconnect to that dedicated SSID.
  3. If it still fails, connect the PS5 to the Flint 4 by Ethernet temporarily. Stable Ethernet would narrow this to Wi‑Fi compatibility; Ethernet failures would instead point toward the WAN/NAT path.

Please report the exact Flint 4 firmware build and whether the PS5 actually disconnects from the SSID or remains connected while games report timeouts. Those two outcomes require different next steps. Please do not post the full exported system log publicly; if staff request it, send it by private message or email to support@gl-inet.com.

I have the exact same issue with my Flint 2, only way I solved it was to have the PS5 on the guest 5Ghz WiFi. It’s the only device that uses that guest WiFi, seams to have solved the issues I had.

hmm, what does the logs tell as soon the ps5 connects and disconnects?

Is the deauth message having a abnormal code?

Currently I got a ps5 slim on ethernet that works fine for me, but I can try the wifi.

I did noticed something odd on the sfp side though and the GL-iNet's speedtest page on 4.11.0, the wan seem to drop spontanious very rapidly but not enough to have packet loss but in my eyes it seem to be some kind of incompatibility I'm seeing on the sfp port (I can't rule out a bad cable yet, it is a copper ethernet module), but when I see the logs I also noticed wifi messages, it looks for me the network sometimes gets reloaded which also invokes the wifi reload aswell when it shouldn't do that.

^ it can be a worth a try to unplug sfp and only plug the 10gb ethernet to see if this incompatibility still is present, it is far fetched but you never know, to me it doesn't look to a broken cable it happens on load where my isp bottlenecks it because my router tries to go over it but for some reason handles it in a wrong path and I even see a if up event for wan and then the whole pbr policies start restarting things and likely also a part of the network including wifi, it can also fail if a wifi client doesn't receive dhcp but that is rather prompted as a normal deauth code for a normal leave.

Problems don't occur if the same cable is on the 10gb ethernet port rather than in my sfp copper module.

Have you tried disabling IPv6?

I ended up selling the router, in my opinion this router should work out the box with consoles like the ps5.

Poor show from this company.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your experience.
We understand your decision and are sorry that the connection issues affected your experience with Flint 4.

If you haven't sold your Flint 4 yet, you could try connecting your PS5 Pro to a separate 5 GHz Guest Wi-Fi network.
Some users experiencing similar issues have reported improved connection stability with this workaround.

Thank you again for your feedback and support.
