Try to run the following command once:
sed -i '/exit 0/i\ethtool -s eth1 speed 1000 duplex full' /etc/rc.local
This should make the change more or less permanent. Feel free to test.

Maybe @bruce do.
RTL8156 is supposed to work with Flint 2 @ 2.5G LAN, I am using it.
