Yes. I used the logread -f > /root/sys.log &
method
and for the post log, I grabbed the /var/system.log once I logged in.
re: No anomalies.
That's the problem I have had. I used to try leaving a terminal open with a tail -f of the system log.
But I was never able to catch anything that looked related, nor were there any crash logs after
the reboot.
It's about 30cm too short to reach the router. I have things like a nas, switch
and cabling running to shelving where they normally all sit together.
I will look for a cable extender, as a straight swap is awkward.
The PSU I am using is a Shenzhen Huntkey 4A brick.
I suppose it is possible that it tops out, but it used to power the Flint v1 and
another modem in parallel with no issues.
Could it be that the stock firmware draws more power and it can
pass over a limit without any logging?
I was able to run recent op24 firmware without frequent crashes, and
v4.5.6 stock seemed more stable. I can't remember now if v4.5.6
crashed much when I first got the router. I have a vague feeling
that my impression of the flint2 when I got it was that it wasn't as
stable as the flint v1, but it wasn't crashing everyday.
Edit:
I see I actually posted this before:
So I don't think the problem is just the PSU alone.
I used to have an 8A PSU somehwere. I wonder if I can find it.
That's with the majority of devices on 2.4Ghz (tablet/TVs streaming),
and only my phone on 5Ghz doing light browsing.
Also that was using the non OEM psu as I wanted to allow it some time
to see if it still rebooted when 5Gz wasn;t heavily used.
I'm going to switch back to the OEM 4A psu and make the 5Ghz
band available to all the other devices again, and compare.
It seems too warm with this very tiny load.
Maybe when it's under heavy load it's triggering the thermal limit. But I guess the thermal limit is around 90°C (just guessing, I really don't know).
YOU HAVE A THERMAL ISSUE, YOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD A THERMAL ISSUE, 58c is WAY to hot if you arenât hammering the router. Have you tried something simple like a small fan on top of the router. Real easy troubleshooting step. You logs show nothing this definitely tells you itâs HARDWARE
GLinet Support reached out to me with RMA instructions.
I swapped out the Flint2 for my Beryl AX last evening.
It's been up for 20h and seems warm but stable and survived the evening of streaming.
This a quick sample of the temperatures I recorded for the Flint2 last week.
20:00 onwards tends to be when most devices are utilising the internet
and would be in crash terrority. Also 5Ghz was only used by one device.
