I tried to use the Flint3 router with my german ‘vodafonestation’ modem (router in bridgemode).
As I understand it, the modem is using dhcp and the values are looking good to me, but there is no internet access. Switching back to my old router is still working fine, so the modem itself is not the problem.
I will attach some screenshot. Perhabs somebody can point me to a possible reason for this problem.
We’re not entirely sure what caused this issue, but the ping error appears to be routing related.
Could you please try connecting Flint 3 to another available internet source (for example, a mobile hotspot), then connect it to GoodCloud and share it with us so we can perform a remote check?
When doing this, please make sure Flint 3 is connected to the “Vodafone Station,” so we can properly troubleshoot the problem. Technical Support via GoodCloud - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
ISP’s often capture the MAC address of the router’s WAN port. The network may still be ‘looking’ for that stored MAC.
You can to clear it by unplugging your ISP modem for a few minutes or you can clone the MAC in the new router. I chose the second option. It allows me to swap back and forth between routers without issues.
Thanks, yes that’s the case, but I tried both things and besides that without that I didn’t get a public IP address assigned from dhcp it didn’t change anything about the not working internet access.
I will set up an alternate internet access for GoodCloud access tomorrow and will PM the credentials to the official support.
After modifying some settings, the device seems to have gone offline for some reason.
Could you please restart the router and reconnect it to the network?
The router was thinking the internet access through wan was working (it isn’t) and didn’t prioritise the usb tethering any more. I changed the priorities and now it is reachable again through the usb tethering.
Based on our inspection, it appears that the ISP modem has assigned an incorrect gateway address or is failing to respond to ARP requests for some reason, preventing Flint3 from communicating with the gateway.
Please verify that the ISP modem's configuration is correct, or contact your ISP for further investigation.
We just modified some configurations that seem to have taken the router offline again. Could you please reboot it?
We want to capture packets to identify who sent the DHCP response which should make us be able to obtain the correct gateway address.
So that we can try adding a static ARP entry to see if that restores its functionality.
