Weird situation, i had WLAN issues so i decided to do factory reset, reconfigure everything. I'm using Vigor 166 modem in front of Flint3. I did very basic configuration, PPPoE user/pwd, WLAN, Adguard,Tailscale. I noticed almost imemdiately that WAN is loosing connection frequently, it all was so until I created additional interface in luci to access modedem (static IP, on eth0 interface, assigned firewall wan zone). And then everything seems more or less stable. But why is that? Why PPPoE session not kept without modem interface? Where are detailed PPPoE logs in Flint3 ?
Hi,
GL GUI > System > Log, it records all run logs, may include PPPoE (wan) logs.
Please let me know:
Regarding eth0 (wan), if PPPoE connection is required in GL GUI, why static IP is required in Luci?
Is the connected modem the same Vigor?
Is the PPPoE connection normal before the reset?
Static IP assigned to modem interface (192.168.1.2) is needed to access Vigor modem GUI (192.168.1.1)
Vigor is only modem connected to WAN side of Flint3
Flint3 WAN --- Vigor 166 (as modem G.fast)
On Flint3 configured WAN as PPPoE only user name and password from ISP.
Before reset I cannot confirm, I always had modem interface configured to access modem GUI. This time I tried to do minimal configuration to isolate issues with client access to Internet.
Flint3 on LAN side does use 10.36.x.y network
Hi,

Since PPPoE connection is required in GL GUI, why the router available access Primary router (modem, Vigor 166) and Internet when you add static IP in Luci (modem, eth0)? Why is this way not required the PPPoE authentication be required?
A little strange, have you changed the mode of Vigor 166 from bridge to router? -
Do you remember the PPPoE connection in GL GUI, is it displayed the status "connecting", or connected (obtained the IP/Gateway/DNS) but the prompt "The interface is connected, but the Internet can't be accessed"?
If the issue syslog has been exported, please send it to me in PM.
