This is totally correct.

If you want to set up as vpn server, the next step

  1. Enable vpn server by accessing 192.168.8.1
  2. Set up port forward in your main router

If you want to set up the router at 192.168.178.100 from your wan network, you need to open port 80 or 443 in the admin panel.
