GL A1300 Travel Router slow connection speed

Hi,

I have been able to set up 2 GL A1300 slate plus routers, one connected to my home router and the other being my travel router I will carry with me abroad. My work laptop also needs me to connect to Cisco secure client to be able to access things.

I'm able to connect the travel router to my home hotspot and can see that the IP address is the same IP address as when I connect my work laptop to my home wifi. But when I use my personal laptop with the home wifi the IP address is different. Is it possibly because I'm using the Cisco VPN?

Also now when I'm connected to the travel router which is using my phone hotspot, the connection is really slow. I'm unable to open even Gmail on my work laptop. What are some possible reasons for slow connection when using the travel router.

Would appreciate any resolution/suggestions.

Thanks

Hi

Yes, that’s correct. When you’re connected through the Cisco VPN, the IP address you see will be the exit address of the Cisco VPN server.
Devices connected directly to your home network without a VPN will use the public IP address provided by your home ISP.

Have you tried checking your internet speed without connecting to the Cisco VPN?
Since you’re using your phone as a hotspot, poor signal strength or network congestion can easily reduce performance.

Additionally, even if your hotspot provides good speeds, connecting through the Cisco VPN adds another layer — your effective speed will also depend on the quality and distance of the route between your travel location and the Cisco VPN server.
