Hello

I have the above modem connected but it does not connect and also does not show any info like name / IMEI.
Does this mean there is something wrong with a modem?

The UI does not show modem name and IMEI of USB modems.

You can try two ways. The 2nd way should work.

Just try manual setup, choose ttyUSB0, input correct apn and check if it connect.
Plug the modem to your pc and use Huawei’s software to change it to hilink. Then plugin the router it should work as tethering.

I can’t convert my modem to hilink mode as all my Windows computers are too new versions of Win10 and device is not being recognised…

Hi alszhao, did you ever get hold of one in the end? I am also based in HK, they only seem to have H versions here, I can get hold of an E3372H-320, but would like to get it to convert it to just the Stick Modem version (22.x→22.1x firmware), as I have an E8732H-153 which I do not want to convert.

Hi

I think a separate forum is a great idea but caveat that by saying that having GLiNET testing them all is unlikely as there are however literally hundreds of different USB Modems or modems that can be connected via USB and there are many different sub-models (country/band specific, see examples below) for each modem (I just sent alzhao 3 modems to test, but it is a drop in the ocean).

What this sub-forum might do is allow a bigger database to be built up from user-experiences and have it one place. In a way ROOTer (of modems and men fame) does (using OpenWRT) what a lot of folks seem to basking for; compatibilty, with their GLiNET device.

Personally, I am not as tech-savvy (but good at following instructions) and simply want to retain the GLiNET OpenWRT implementatiuon, but have the USB Modems work (either directly as modems or as tethered devices).

What I sent to alzhao was:

TWO Huawei E3372H’s, one as a standard Tethering Device, the other flashed as a modem only (no IP Address), so potentially speed-comparisons can be made (and maybe reduce any unwanted dropping, due to built-in sleep functions). These are both Cat 4 LTE devices but do not have built in Wifi (unlike their sister the E8372H, which I killed off by mistake…); and
A TP-Link M7650 Mifi device also for testing, in tether mode. You can run this off 5V/1A without the battery in, by pressing and holding the power button, so it’s a potential candidate for running off the AXT1800 USB port; and is Cat 11 LTE.

I irretrievably bricked my E8372H unfortunately :-(.
