Gl.iNet Beryl MT3000 suddenly loses all settings, administrator password is only thing retained

We have a strange issue that has now occurred a handful of times. In our case, we instruct our customers to purchase MT3000 routers, use Repeater to connect to their own WiFi and then send us a device bind link for Tailscale. We then install our own server onto the router which can be accessed using Tailscale funnel.

In multiple cases, after running fine for weeks or months, the MT3000 router will suddenly go offline and also lose all settings. We finally got on a video call with a customer to better understand the issue, and it appears that in this case the administrator password is still retained for accessing the Gl.iNet Admin Panel (so it’s not a full factory reset), but everything else has been wiped such as Repeater settings and Tailscale setup.

Is this a known issue or is there any remediation / recommendations here? We are also awaiting shipment of a physical router from one of our customers which is currently in this reset state, in case you can provide us with ways to retrieve logs for what happened.

For troubleshooting and logs, I realized we could also just get Tailscale access again from the customer and SSH into the router instead of having them ship it. Can you share how to retrieve the necessary logs so we can see what might have happened?

Hi

It sounds like the device was restored to factory settings (all settings lost, including the Admin password), or the network settings were reset (the Admin password is retained, but the Repeater is disconnected and Tailscale is disabled) via the Reset button.

Is the device placed in a public area and could it have been accessed?
