GL.iNet GL-MT3000 vs. GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 Ethernet Ports in AP mode

Hi,

I am interested in buying one of these models to be used mainly as an access point.

I would like to know what happens to the Ethernet ports when in AP mode. Can the Ethernet cable going from the main router to the AP be plugged into the WAN port or does it have to be the LAN port(s)?

In my planned configuration, my PC would also be plugged in to the AP, so I want to know if I need the two LAN ports provided by the GL-AXT1800.

I hope my question made sense. I can try and draw a diagram if it is confusing.

You put the “source” router in to the WAN port of the AP and then any additional LAN ports on the AP become available to use for wired Ethernet devices.

So for the Beryl AX you’d have one available Ethernet LAN prot and with the Slate AX you’d have 2 Ethernet LAN ports available.
