GL-MT3000 don't see channels above 48 in 5Ghz repeater mode

Hi,

My GL-MT3000 with firmware 4.6.2 and now 4.6.4, when in repeater mode, it can't connect, nor even list as available, WLANs on channels above 48 (. I have to force these setting on my Netgear M6 Pro 5GHz Wi-Fi, instead of leaving it on Auto, to MT3000 be able to connect.

Is there any reason for this? Or I am missing something?

Could you please share your Wi-Fi details (channel, bandwidth, encryption) with us?

Yes, of course:

Working:
Channel 44
80Mhz
WPA2/3

Not Working:
Channel 149
80Mhz
WPA2/3

Channel 149 is not allowed in big parts of the world (like EU or Russia) - it is only allowed for small distance Wi-Fi like on your phone. So in EU it would be not allowed to broadcast CH 149 via a router.

Please check this list List of WLAN channels - Wikipedia and check your country code in luci

I am in EU, Portugal. In luci the country code is DE (EU, Germany) so your answer fully applies.

Thanks to be as fast as helpful.

Today I learnt the UK allows 200mw on that channel but the EU only allows 25mw

As you can see in the diagram linked by @admon the channels above 138 are SRD (Short Range Devices) -channels. They can be used for WLAN in EU but the power is limited to 25mW.
I myself use 80MHz bandwidth on channel 155 it works only for a few meters - but with 866 MBit/s.
