GL-MT3000 Remote Desktop

Hi all, i am trying to simulate remote desktop but i keep getting errors on a non ethernet LAN. Just purely LAN.

Below is a list of things i have tried.

Its a factory defaulted beryl AX on Router mode.
Both ports are on LAN mode as well.
I have tried both DHCP/Static IP ( one on laptop / one on desktop )
Tried DMZ setting the desktop IP as the designated one.
Tried disabling firewall completely on Luci.
Tried removing the 3 stock firewall zone settings.
I have also tried the port forwarding but i am not intending to use it with VPN.
I made sure the desktop RDP is turned on, NLA turned off, firewall on the desktop is off as well.
I tried different IP ranges, i was able to ping the desktop from the laptop, Beryl AX router as well.

Original plan for this was connecting the desktop to the Beryl on LAN, remote desktop into it with the laptop nearby within range of the wifi.

Could anyone enlighten me on this? Im not very proficient in this but im sure the beryl AX should at least allow rdp?

Hello,

GL firmware does not intercept packets within the LAN.

Given that both devices can ping each other, it means the network level connection is ok, but the remote desktop PC is likely to be not allowed to establish RDP connections.

  1. Please check the firewall configuration of remote desktop.

  2. Please check whether remote desktop enables RDP-related system services.

  3. Please check whether the account and password are correct, and whether the account allows connect to remote desktop.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I turned off all window defender firewall, ensured all RDP settings are allowed on control panel remote access as well.

I double checked all the services for Remote Desktop and it was all running.

The desktop does not have a password. I tried making a password as well but still cant RDP in.

I'll try to reOS the desktop this weekend and also will try to hook it up to a switch and try it with other desktop at work. It could be this particular desktop as it does have some age to it.
