mt3000 4.2 beta 2 : still need to modify qmi.sh file for modem to ‘auto setup’, but modem stays alive after 2 hours, which is improvement from 4.1

Did you ever get this working reliably? I also have the same setup and am having the same problems. I can get it to work using Protocol 3G port ttyUSB3 and service LTE in manual setup but its very unreliable. Stays connected but internet doesn’t work right most of the time.

Possible to get step by step instructions on this? I am having the same problem but do not know the steps to take to upgrade module firmware. I found my qmi.sh was somewhat different than your screenshot too.

Check if your isp controls hotspot type connection, research about changing TTL if you haven’t done so

On the previous firmware I was able to edit -/lib/netifd/proto/qmi.sh and get everything working. Unfortunately this newest firmware is completely different /lib/netifd/proto/qmi.sh and I am not sure what to edit to get it working. the few things I have tried have not worked.

This is what I did to get it working with previous firmware. Just posting the section I edited. Look for the ----------------> pointing to the line I changed.

Please note I did update my quectel modem firmware with glinet help, if your modem hasn’t update for a few years, maybe you need to update it

Yes, when I made that modification on the previous firmware it fixed everything and I was able to connect. I can not find correct change to fix the newest firmware so I can’t connect.

You can use this command （gl_modem -B 1-1 AT AT+QGMR）to check the firmware version of the modem [image]

Check earlier in the post, it’s a process of checking your modem serial and giving to them so that they can ‘make’ the firmware for you

for 4.4.5 i modified here, then initially the router couldnt detect the modem even after one reboot

i switched to another usb modem that uses tethering then switch back to the external modem it then able to establish data connection (and set ttl works)

how long it can stay online, will monitor

update modem not so stable in this firmware, it goes offline randomly and becomes undetected by mt3000, maybe theres more configuration required but its out of my capability

Thanks for the reply and taking a stab at it. This is difficult not having my cell modem anymore. Is disappointing they removed signal strength info and set the default USB port to USB0 with this firmware so making AT commands is a pain. Have to select USB3 every time you issue a command and can’t easily set your antenna due to no cell signal strength info.

GL-iNET. Can you help us out with this? The previous firmware we were able to get things working after editing the qmi.sh file but now that file has very different content and we can’t use our modems anymore.

hi guys,
is anything going on in this topic?

I have Beryl AX (MT-3000) + GL M2 with T77W968 / DW5821e in it. When I plug the board to the router nothing shows up in Cellular nor Tethering.
Tried on firmware 4.2.3 and 4.4.6 - same result.
