GL-MT300N-V2 doesn't mount usb hard drives

My new router mounts my 128GB flash drive fine, but I’ve tried a new 6TB external hard drive and an old 2TB one, and neither external one mounted. I include the syslog and kernel log for the flash and the 2TB drive below. There were complaints in the logs with the 6TB about it being a very large drive, but not for the 2TB.

Thoughts?

Is it externally powered? If not I’d be surprised if the usb power from the router would provide enough to spin up a disk.

When you say the manual commands didn’t work - what did you run exactly and what was the output?

Thanks for the reply. The usb hard drives were both externally powered, one was a Seagate and the other a Western Digital.

Off topic, but regarding power, what does the router need? I thought I’d try running it from a 4000mAh power bank with a 5V/2.1A output I had lying around, but it didn’t power up. The power bank may be bad, or I may be naive about how much power the router needs.

Regarding the commands, I ran the exact one listed in the 2016 post I linked to. The control panel did not list any files from the hard drive after I did this, as it does after it mounts a flash drive. I did not look at the logs.

Can you change the label? It has a space in the middle which may break the scripts.

Changing the drive label, by replacing the space with an underscore, resulted in the 2TB successfully mounting. Thank you.

Moving on to the other drive, removing spaces from the label of the 6TB drive did not help. The logs indicate that it mounts although they flag that it is a very large drive. However, the setting page shows ‘No Storage Device Detected’, unlike the case with the 2TB drive, even after waiting an hour. I append the 6TB drive logs below, any thoughts?

Very big device is not supported I think.

I’ve run my AR300M off a 10000mah 2.1A USB power bank no problem. I think it only needs 1A. If you have USB devices plugged into the router it may need more.
