I don't understand why (and how) this router mentions a WI-FI up to 300 Mbps while it only uses the 2.4 Ghz band, what did I miss?
Hi
There is nothing unusual about this.
Wi-Fi 7 can even achieve physical layer speeds of over 1000 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band.
For Mango, certain Wi-Fi parameters allowed it to reach 300 Mbps, as follows:
- 802.11n
- MIMO 2x2
- Bandwidth: 40 MHz
- Modulation: 64-QAM
- Encoding: 5/6
- Short GI
That is a very theoretical number. Real world numbers for this routers are much less.
Yes, this is the theoretical maximum rate at the Wi-Fi physical layer.
In practical scenarios, various factors such as interference, signal attenuation, and network congestion can reduce the actual throughput, which cause it significantly lower than the theoretical rate.
