What does the default function of the VPN switch do?

When you move the physical switch to the “off” position, does it kill the internet connectivity completely or does it switch to “standard” routing? I was hoping it would be the second one so that I can easily turn the VPN on and off and use my main internet most of the time.

By default the button turns on and off your VPN.

You can program manually to do other functions as well but need to have some OpenWRT knowledge to do.
