As the title says, I have correctly configured this router to my WiFi network, and I have also configured my VPN, but when reconnecting it gives me an error (no internet connection), even though I did everything correctly and I can't figure out the error or how to fix it, thanks
Not a lot of information to go on. To verify:
- There is in range a WiFi network that has internet access.
- You want to have the WAN interface of the Mango connected to that Wifi uplink.
- The Wifi network you are connecting to doesn’t have a captive portal.
- The VPN won’t start because the Mango doesn’t have an internet connection.
After configuring the Mango by entering 192.168.8.1, changing the passwords, and setting up my VPN, reconnecting to the Mango from the PC to the Wi‑Fi network with the Ethernet cable connected to the main router port tells me that there is no internet access; however, if I enter 192.168.8.1, it connects normally to its control panel with no internet access, and yet I configured everything exactly as instructed. Thanks
Hi,
Thank you for the clarification.
To determine whether the issue is with the basic Internet connection, or the VPN tunnel, Could you provide the following information?
- Could you please provide a screenshot of the router’s main dashboard to check the current WAN and VPN status?
- Can devices connected to the Mango access the Internet normally when the VPN is disabled?
If I follow, when you refer to “the Wi-Fi network with the Ethernet cable connected to the main router port”, you have a router from your internet provider that broadcasts a WiFi signal, and also has LAN ports, and you have connected the WAN port on the Mango to one of the LAN ports on the internet provider’s router?
You need to be a little clearer about what is connected to what and how.
attached screenshot of the dashboard status
if I connect from the phone to the little router it gives me the same error NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET thanks
if the little router is connected to the WAN of the main router, then from the PC I carried out the entire activation procedure through the little router’s dashboard, I changed the passwords and the procedure to activate my VPN, then it disconnected and reconnecting it with the new passwords it does not give me access to the internet, which should be from the Mango to the main router where the connection is active. thanks
The WAN port of the Mango should be connected to a LAN port of the main router.
The data flow is the internet connection comes into the main router. It broadcasts a Wifi signal, which isn’t relevant here. But the main router also routes the internet connection to its LAN ports. Those will be in a private subnet range, like 192.168.1.0/24. When the WAN port of the Mango is connected to one of those LAN ports, it will have a WAN IP address in that range. It then routes that connection to its LAN, which is 192.168.8.0/24. When your PC connects to the Mango, it will have an IP address in that range; this seems to be working. When the PC tries to connect to anything other than 192.168.8.0/24, it will pass that to its default gateway, which is your main router. In turn, if the IP address is anything other than 192.168.1.0/24, the main router will pass that on to its default gateway, which should be your internet provider.
Turn off the VPN entirely, and see if the PC now has an internet connection. If it does, then you can go about turning on the VPN and seeing if it is properly set up.
If I disable the VPN from the dashboard, it connects to the internet regularly, and if I re-enable it, the result is this as shown in the screenshot, and I can't manage to solve it, thanks
It looks like the Mango itself is not connected to the Internet.
Please refer to the following guides and connect it to the Internet before configuring or enabling the VPN:
I redid the procedure by now from memory, but nothing. If I disable the VPN (Internet Wi‑Fi works regularly with the MANGO), if I reactivate the VPN switch it gives me no internet connection and, of course, no VPN connection either. I can't find the error, or better yet, what am I doing wrong? Thanks
If you have internet without the vpn, but not with the vpn, it suggests to me that this is in the Mango configuration and nothing about the physical parts. It makes sense that if the vpn has a kill switch, then no tunnel, no internet.
Do you have another device that can connect to the VPN server with the same credentials? Is the VPN server private or a commercial server? I have often found I needed to geerate credentials specific to the Mango to connect to my commercial VPN provider.
Time to look at the logs, I think.
If I have a Fire Stick that connects to the VPN regularly, it does so through the same connection as the Mango connected to the Fire and the NordVPN software configured with the same credentials, and I can't understand why on the Mango dashboard from the PC, when I turn on the VPN button, it cuts off internet... thanks
I don’t think you can use the same credentials, because of the device limit. I think you have to generate a separate .ovpn for the router.
I have NordVPN and can use it on 3 different devices. At this point, I think it depends on NordVPN’s configuration files. When I turn off the VPN toggle, everything works; if I turn it back on, there is no internet. So the UDP files must not be working, but the strange thing is that everything works fine on other devices. Thanks.
Has to be an authentication issue. What do the logs say?
From this latest log, I wouldn’t know how to interpret it, but thanks anyway.
the screenshot cuts off at the good stuff. Post what follows.
Hi,
Thank you for the information.
To rule out interference from using multiple VPN connections, could you temporarily disable the VPN on your PC and Firestick?
Then enable the OpenVPN client on the Mango and check whether it can connect normally.
If it still cannot connect, could you please download a new .ovpn configuration for another recommended NordVPN server and test it on the Mango. During this test, please keep the VPN disabled on the other devices so that only the Mango VPN is active.
If neither configuration can connect, could you please reproduce the issue once and send us the complete OpenVPN log by private message.
Thank you for your understand and support.
